Trying out my designs

After presenting my designs to the class last week, I realised that I need to start practicing my designs on myself more- as the make up obviously looks very different on the skin to what it does on paper.

Here is one of my designs, inspired by lady in waiting Elizabeth Brydges. I wanted to create a quite dark and dramatic look, which is why I used a thick white base. I then created a big red and black eye- these are colours associated with stress, anger, passion, death and mourning. However, the red in our palette is more pink than I would like, I need to go and buy a deeper red for this look.

The eyebrow is the part of my design that my classmates and Sharon seemed to like the most, so I definitely want to include this in one of my final designs. I wasn't able to block out my eyebrows properly, as I didn't have any glue, so this something I can do for next time to improve the look.

I did a gold lip to relate back to my initial designs and influences, it is also a representation of Elizabeth Brydges' love for luxurious and expensive things.

I am happy with this as the basis for my final design- I will now tweak it and play around with it until I come up with a final design.
