Final face chart

Final face chart-
My design is based on the lady in waiting, Elizabeth Brydges. Before the Queen’s death, they were very close and Elizabeth was a lover of anything luxury. She loved jewells, pearls, lace and red. This was probably due to her being one of the gentlewomen of the bedchamber. This meant that she was with the queen in her most intimate moments and spent a lot of her time surrounded by the Queens luxurious possession. Because of her position, she was one of the most trusted ladies in waiting, her and the queen had been close since they were small. Elizabeth wasn’t paid for being a lady in waiting, but she was still able to buy all of these expensive things as she was leant money and managed to rack up a large debt. As her and the queen were friends, this wasn’t too much of an issue. But as soon as the queen died, she was told she had to pay this money back immediately. As a lady in waiting, the queen is supposed to find you a suitable husband. However, Elizabeth was left without a husband when the queen died. Perhaps she was too valuable and the queen wanted all of her attention. With no husband or no money, Elizabeth had no way of paying back her debt. On top of this, Elizabeth was actually in the room when the queen died which obviously would have been very distressing. As she was in the room when it happened, she was seen as a suspect for the queens death.

All of these changes and accusations all at once would have left anyone extremely distressed. I chose to portray this in my design. I did a white base and took it down the neck, but on the neck I made it look streaky and faded out. I did this because pale skin was seen as a sign on wealth and high status. The streaky neck is a representation of her wealth and status fading after the queen’s death. I then blocked out the eyebrows using supracolour, but I liked them messy and feral looking, rather than the typical Elizabethan complete blocked out brow. I felt that the feral eyebrow was an indication of her mental state deteriorating. I then created a big red and black eye, with a harsh red line going down the nose and faded it out down the cheek using a kabuki brush. As red as such an expensive colour only access able to those with wealth, I wanted to do something similar to what I had done with the neck. By fading it out it shows her wealth fading. It also looks like make up has run down her cheek from tears. I then put a dark plum colour though the crease and blended it out. I then did the same with a black eyeshadow, this adds depth and reflects the darkness of Elizabeth Brydges. I painted the eyelashes with white supra colour as it just made the eyes pop! I loved how it contrasted with the red eyeshadow. I then added a gold lip as a representation of her love her expensive things.
